Receiving a phone call at your current job regarding a new job, when you haven’t told your boss you’re looking around is career suicide.

Entry-level workers can state in their resume objectives that they are recent graduates looking for positions in their particular field. Career changers should state how they can use their previously earned skills to make a transition into their new career.

I have also experienced the stress that changing jobs can cause and that is why I created this site of free information, as my contribution towards making the process a little easier for you.

I would advise you not to include the section on references as this is not the right time to submit them and it is usually understood that they will be available on request.

A few experts feel that the resume objectives section can be limiting to job seekers. It makes you be very specific as to your goals. This may be constraining if you want to be general and leave your options open.

Most candidates labor under the misconception that employers read resumes to find someone to interview and hire. This idea is completely false. In today’s competitive job market employers screen resumes for one purpose only … to screen out job seekers.

You also have to decide on the layout of your resume. Choose a common font and medium range font-size, such as 12. Decide how you want to highlight the headings of the different sections. You can use bold, italics or underline to highlight section headings. Some people use bold and a larger font size to highlight their name on the resume.

Here is another resume writing tip to quickly spruce up your resume: Add bullets and formatting to make it more easily readable.

Let’s not kid ourselves … looking for a new job is not easy and many job-seekers get despondent when they face constant rejections.

The biggest danger of loosing your motivation is that your negative attitude is seen by your prospective employers during your job interview. There is no quicker way of getting rejected… if you are not confident about your prospects, it’s highly unlikely your interviewer will be either.

The best thing to do to is to keep positive by focusing on positive things from your past and not dwelling on your current short term failures (job rejections). Give it a try… you have everything to gain and nothing to loose.
