You write pretty decently so maybe you could become a pen-for-hire and spend your day writing about Zippo lighters. If that does not pan out, there is always eBay. You know for a fact many buyers are on the look-out for a personalized Zippo. That’s a business opportunity right there – you could become an entrepreneur and sell military zippo lighters.

But wait just a New York minute! Give that resignation more thought. It’s not easy to get work in the Big Apple – are you sure you want to give up yours? Before you resign, why not take the time to weigh the advantages and disadvantages?

Advantage: You can work in your pajamas.
Drawback: You lose all your fashion sense – which is not much to begin with.

Advantage: You don’t have to get your hair done or wear makeup.
Drawback: You are more likely to suffer a coronary each time you see that wild-haired person in the mirror.

Advantage: You save on fuel because you only need to travel from your bedroom to your computer.
Drawback: Days pass before you discover the car battery is deader than a doornail. And of course, you had to find this out on the one day you have a meeting you cannot be late for.

Advantage: You do not have to clean your desk.
Drawback: Nobody will clean your desk either.

Advantage: You can go on holiday any day you want.
Drawback: There’s no one to fill in for you while you’re on holiday, so you’re left with only two options: you shut your business for the time being or you do not go on vacation.

Advantage: You can talk as loud as you want.
Drawback: You have no one to talk to so you talk to your flowers. The neighbor hears you, decides you’re loony, and promptly spreads the word.

Advantage: There is no need to call in sick.
Drawback: You cannot call in sick.

Now you know – working from home has both pros and cons. Do you still want to be a writer or make a living auctioning military Zippo lighters? It’s your career so it’s your call.
